Chinese Herbs Heals Menstrual Cramps
Chinese herbs might be more effective in relieving menstrual cramps than drugs, acupuncture or heat compression. According to the Cochrane Library journal, that this herbs does not only relieved pain, but reduced the recurrence of the condition.
Period pain affects as many as 50% of women of reproductive age and, between 70%-80% of teenaged girls, lead to absences from school and work. While the cause is still under debate, it is believed to be linked to an imbalance in ovarian hormones.
Chinese herbal medicine has been used to treat the condition for many years now. These herbs are namely Chinese angelica root (danggui), Szechuan lovage root (chuanxiong), red peony root (chishao), white peony root (baishao), Chinese motherwort (yimucao), fennel fruit (huixiang), nut-grass rhizome (xiangfu), liquorice root (gancao) and cinnamon bark (rougui).
There was a trial that involved 36 women and the result shows that 53% of those who took the Chinese herbs had said that they experienced less pain.
But these results are still under studies because the number of subjects that have been tested on this are only few. So the researchers are still finding more women to help participate on this study in order to have a more accurate and reliable results later on.

I find Chinese medicine excellent. They have been using it for thousands of years whereas we forgot our herbal past and went for prescription drugs which are rather dicey and I personally don't touch.
