Resveratrol Helps in Destruction of Pancreatic Cancer Cells

I know all of yah heard that red wine is good for the heart. Where does red wine made from, from fermented grapes right?

Here’s a recent discovery from grapes and wines which I found while I was surfing the latest health issues and discoveries on Life Extension written on the article on Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology they reported that resveratrol, an antioxidant compound occurring in red grapes skins and wine, which aids in the destruction of pancreatic cancer cells by impairing mitochondrial function. Mito chondria are organelles within the cell that supply them with energy. Energy is no longer readily available if the mitochondria of that cancer cell is disrupted thus will result to cell death.

They have investigate on the matter when they gave 50mg/ml resveratrol to pancreatic cancer cell before exposing it to radiations. And another is just expose to radiation alone. Thus the results shows that the cancer cells which was exposed to reseveratrol experienced an increased in destruction of cancer cells this is due to resveratrol increased the destructive reactive oxygen species, which are the likeliest cause of the cell death. And in addition, mitochondrial membrane polarization was greater in the resveratrol-treated cells, which reduces the cells' ability to function.

The ability of the pancreas to pump out digestive enzymes also removes drugs from its cells, which explains the resistance of pancreatic cancer to chemotherapy. But with resveratrol it enhances the sensitivity of cancer cells to the therapy and the normal cells less sensitive to the therapy. In which normal cells won’t be destroyed together with the destruction of cancer cells.

Dr Okunieff and his colleagues reviewed why resveratrol protects normal tissue. "Antioxidant research is very active and very seductive right now," Dr Okunieff commented. "The challenge lies in finding the right concentration and how it works inside the cell. In this case, we've discovered an important part of that equation. Resveratrol seems to have a therapeutic gain by making tumor cells more sensitive to radiation and making normal tissue less sensitive."

And he added "While additional studies are needed, this research indicates that resveratrol has a promising future as part of the treatment for cancer."

Awesome post! Have you had a chance to watch 60 Minutes, Fox News, Oprah or Barbra Walters segments last weekend about it?

Basically, it shows promise in mice. For mice, has shown major health improvements including blood sugar control. Keep in mind that 6 out of 10 major drug successes in mice - fail in humans. But the limited human trials showed promise and there are some patients that claim it helps. However, this could be the 'placebo effect,' and only empirical data under controlled experiments can tell for sure. It will take a few years for these clinical trials to conclude.

You can get supplements of the extract right now. While it is safe, it is not guaranteed to work. Before making a decision, you should watch all the videos. Here's the a recap from all the trustworthy shows:

I did some research and learned the following: You can only get 1-2mgs of it in a single bottle of wine. So, white, it's a good excuse to drink wine, but you really won't get much benefit. There are resveratrol supplements on the market - but many do not have the required strength and they don't work for everyone. The only way to know for sure is to try the supplements. Hope you find this interesting... its a future hope for the fountain of youth and treatments (not cures) for countless diseases.
